If someone were to really dissect my work, they would see that I take a lot of action shots.
I've never been a fan of stiff poses and practiced smiles. So I took time to study how to capture natural movements in beautiful and fun ways!
I've photographed everything from dancing with your soul mate in an open field, to shotgunning a beer to celebrate your college graduation! Hahaha! From champagne popping, to tossing the bouquet. Every movement is a memory to be captured.
Kids are wild and fun. So lets let them be wild and have fun! Photos don't always have to be calm and collected. I have learned that letting the kids get out some of their energy at the beginning of the session actually encourages them to be calm towards the end. And they have a blast so their smiles are genuine!
Lets face it! Kids have a short attention span. They get tired of doing the same thing for longer than a few minutes at a time.
Over the past 8 years, I've figured out that it is much easier to just let the kids do what they want during a session. And when they do something cute, I'll be ready to capture their honest joy as they play.
I guess growing up in a house with 7 siblings gave me a bit of an advantage... and a soft spot for playful babies.
